Armstrong Family Foundation Scholarship

If you know of a student who is an orphan, ward of the court, living with extended family, in foster care, an independent student without financial support or has experienced extreme life circumstances, this opportunity is for them. The scholarship offers up to $8,000 with study abroad and summer school opportunities. Most importantly, this Armstrong Scholarship offers a strong support network and personal involvement from the Armstrong family. The Armstrongs meet regularly with recipients to make sure they are working through obstacles and reaching their goals. The program also features monthly activities and events to enhance personal and professional development.

Students can only apply once admitted to ASU.

Criteria:

  • Be an orphan, ward of the court, living with extended family, in foster care, an independent student without financial support, or experienced extreme life circumstances
  • Be a U.S. citizen or lawful legal resident

Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship & Excellence in Education Program

The Barry Goldwater Scholarship was created to encourage outstanding students to pursue careers in math, science or engineering and to foster excellence in those fields. One and two-year scholarships will cover the cost of tuition, fees, books and room and board up to a maximum of $7,500.

Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation

The Gates Millennium Scholars Program, established in 1999, was initially funded by a $1 billion grant from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. GMSP provides outstanding African American, American Indian/Alaska Native, Asian Pacific Islander American and Hispanic American students with an opportunity to complete an undergraduate college education in all discipline areas and a graduate education for those students pursuing studies in mathematics, science, engineering, education or library science.

 

Criteria:

  • Be African American, American Indian/Alaska Native, Asian American/Pacific Islander or Hispanic American;
  • Be citizens, legal permanent residents or nationals of the United States;
  • Have a cumulative GPA of 3.3 on an unweighted 4.0 scale or earned a GED;
  • Have demonstrated leadership abilities through participation in community service, extracurricular or other activities;
  • Meet Federal Pell Grant eligibility criteria;
  • Enroll for the first time at a U.S. located , accredited college or university (with the exception of students concurrently pursuing a high school diploma) in the fall as a full-time, degree seeking, first year student;
  • Have completed and submitted their application by the deadline; and
  • Have the following forms completed and submitted by the deadline on their behalf: – A Nominator Form-an evaluation of the student’s academic record, and; – A Recommender Form- an evaluation of the student’s community service and leadership  activities.

Coca Cola Scholars Program

The Coca-Cola Scholars Program Scholarship is an achievement-based scholarship awarded to graduating high school seniors each year. Darko Rapotez Memorial Scholarship

Foster Care to Success

The Casey Family Scholars Program is administered by Foster Care to Success. It provides scholarships of up to $10,000 to young people, under the age of 25, who were in foster care for one consecutive year at the time of their 18th birthday or high school graduation OR were adopted or taken into legal guardianship out of foster care after their 16th birthday. Nagle & Crider Criminal Defense Attorneys Community Scholarship

Who Can Apply The Naegle & Crider Criminal Defense Attorneys Community Scholarship is open to high school or college students of any major. To be eligible for the 2016/2017 awards, high school students must be on track to graduate by May 2017 and college students must show current or future enrollment in a degree program at the time of application. All applicants must reside in the state of Arizona. The scholarship can be used for tuition, housing, school supplies or student transportation costs. How To Apply When applying for the Naegle & Crider Criminal Defense Attorneys Community Scholarship, submit your name, email, enrolled school, estimated graduation date, explanation of academic and professional pursuits, activities and community involvement, employment history, essay and honor pledge, stating the work being submitted is your own and accurate in an email to scholarship@naeglelawfirm.com. The essay must be 500 words and be in response to the following prompt: A group of your classmates were recently involved in a deadly car crash. Police say all three students in the car had a blood alcohol level that was over the legal limit and a woman passed away after being hit head on by the vehicle driven by your classmates. What can you, along with your community, do to get the message across that drinking and driving kills? Deadlines: Students must submit entries by May 5 to be considered for the award given in May 2016. Students must submit entries by December 31 to be considered for the award given in January 2017. Entries received prior to the May 5 deadline will not be considered again for the December 31 deadline. Eligible students can enter again with a revised essay. Previous award recipients are not eligible for future awards. Award Amount One gift of $500 will be awarded May 2016 and one gift of $500 will be awarded January 2017. National Association of Hispanic Nurses (Valle del Sol Chapter)

The National Association of Hispanic Nurses (NAHN), Valle del Sol Chapter is committed to the recruitment and retention of Hispanics into the nursing profession.
