Sure extracurricular activities provide fun and entertainment for kids. While fun, they also do so much more for a child in foster care. Like Elijah…Elijah is a two and half year-old boy with a lot of big needs. He is deaf, has a compromised immune system and very low muscle tone. His physical therapist recommended classes at The Little Gym to help build Elijah’s muscle tone so that he can catch up to the benchmarks a toddler should reach.

Enter AFFCF

Elijah’s caregiver submitted an award application to the Arizona Friends of Foster Children Foundation to help with the costs. Because the request fell within AFFCF’s funding guidelines, the request was approved. Today, Elijah is taking classes The Little Gym to help improve his muscles. With support from another award request, he also takes swimming lessons, which allows him to moves in ways he can’t on land. Already the progress is showing! Although he can’t crawl or walk just yet, Elijah recently learned to sit on his own and can scoot around a little.

Keep up the great work while having fun, Elijah!
