Jason in enrolled in the Keys to Success program just months ago in February. He’s 19 and currently a senior in high school in Prescott. From our very first meeting, we learned his catch phrase, “oh cool!”

Since entering the Keys program, Jason has been fully engaged. Already living in his own apartment, Jason holds a job to support himself while attending high school. He was relieved to learn about the education/career and employment pathway that the Keys program offers to young men and women just like him. His response was, “Oh cool!”

Oh Cool

In foster care since he was 17, Jason already has big plans for his future. Once he graduates high school, he wants to go to community college and earn his associate degree. Then he plans to transfer to a four-year university. He didn’t know how he was going to make it happen. His career development specialist told him that the Keys program could assist him with the transfer. His response? “Oh cool!”

A person has to remember that the road to success is always under construction… it is not easy becoming successful.

The Road Ahead

Jason knows that he must work to support himself and do well in school in order to graduate this spring. With his goals firmly in place, we know he will succeed. He is thrilled with the many career options that lie before him and he can’t wait look at each of them to discover the right career path for himself.

“I had no idea there were so many ‘cool’ careers out there,” says Jason.

We love watching this driven young man come alive and see his potential for a great, and successful, future. We might even say, “oh cool!”
