Winter can sometimes be a difficult season for families as parents just aren’t sure what activities they can do with their children. The weather is cold, the days end earlier, and fun in the snow is out of the picture if you’re not in northern Arizona. At Arizona Friends of Foster Children Foundation, we provide funding for children in foster care to give kids and their families every opportunity possible to grow, succeed, and have fun. Here are our tips on how to keep your kids entertained this winter.

Indoor Swimming

Swimming doesn’t just have to be a summer activity! There are indoor swimming pools and even water parks in Arizona that allow your family to escape the cold and put a bathing suit on. This also offers your family a chance to utilize swimming lessons. Learning how to swim is an important life and survival skill, and you need to be sure your child knows how.

Museums

Museums are a both fun and educational activity for your children. Arizona natural history museums, art museums, science museums, and more. Children’s museums, for instance, actually encourage kids to touch everything they see. This can be great for curious children and helps families relax. Most even offer discounts for children and students.

Drive-in Theaters

Kids love going to the movies, but there’s something special about drive-ins. Anyone who’s been to a drive-in theater in the summer knows how hot and stuffy it can get if you prefer to have your car off. This makes drive-ins perfect for the winter. In Phoenix, it’s easy to get warm with socks and blankets, and if it’s still too cold, you can turn on the heat. Drive-ins are especially perfect for chatty children or toddlers who make too much noise in theaters.
