Jerry has been a student in the Arizona Friends of Foster Children Foundation’s scholarship program since the Spring 2021 semester. At that point in time, Jerry was studying at Western Wyoming Community College on a basketball scholarship.

Since then, Jerry returned to Arizona to study at Glendale Community College, where he also played basketball. Jerry graduated with his Associate degree last May and is now pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Interdisciplinary Studies at Arizona State University.

Learning During COVID

While the COVID-19 pandemic changed so much for so many people, it taught Jerry a few things. He found that he liked the format of online education and he continues to take online classes at ASU.

Unfortunately, the hot housing market in the pandemic led his landlord to sell the house Jerry was renting, making an already stressful situation even more stressful. Jerry kept his focus on his goals. He leaned on his support community and was able to receive assistance through the DCS HUD FUP voucher to move into an apartment of his own.

I’m really thankful to AFFCF for all the help. They’ve always been there whenever I called to ask questions and they always have an answer…”

A Note of Thanks

Jerry writes, “I’m really thankful to AFFCF for all the help. They’ve always been there whenever I called to ask questions and they always have an answer, so thank you to AFFCF.”

Jerry is now halfway through his first semester at ASU and AFFCF looks forward to continuing to support him as he continues studying toward earning his Bachelor degree.
