To say Domminick is a hard worker, is an understatement. Entering the foster care system at age 16, he had never attended high school due to circumstances out of his control. Yet, this motivated young man was determined to graduate high school on time.
When he joined Arizona Friends of Foster Children Foundation’s Keys to Success program, Domminick was already making remarkable progress. He was earning A’s and B’s while working 30 hours a week at a local fast food restaurant.
A Guiding Hand
Aspiring to pursue a career in graphic design, Domminick was unsure of how to apply to colleges or to access the resources and scholarships available to him. His career development specialist (CDS) stepped in, guiding him through exploring college options and completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). His CDS also helped him navigate various online portals to check his financial aid payments and ensure everything was on track for him to attend college.
Through sheer hard work and determination, Domminick not only recovered his credits, but also completed all four years of high school in just two years. Today, this always-positive young man is a student at Coconino Community College, where he is studying Business Marketing.
