Eligibility:
Up to $2,500 once per semester. This funding category is only available to students who are either studying a certificate program that is not eligible for federal financial aid or for students whose certificate program costs are not fully covered by the Pell grant and/or ETV funds.
There are many types of vocational programs, many offered by private institutions, but not all programs are eligible for federal funding.
Students should review this information before enrolling in a certificate program to learn about funding options and make the best choice for their interests and financial situation. Students should understand program costs and funding resources to pay for program costs before signing any paperwork.
If the program is eligible for federal funding, students will need to complete the FAFSA at www.fafsa.gov and apply for ETV funds at https://fseducation.fostersuccess.org/arizona-etv/ prior to submitting a Focus Forward request (if eligible for federal funding).
If the program cost will not be covered or fully covered by the Pell grant and/or ETV funds, students will need to obtain a document from the school that indicates the program cost and how much will be covered by other financial aid resources. If the amount that will not be covered by other resources is $2,500 or less, students should complete a Focus Forward application and upload that document as cost documentation.
If students plan to study a program at EVIT that will be funded via I-DIF Funding (only applies to certain programs and students must have graduated from high school within the past year), please contact [email protected] for more information about accessing I-DIF Funding.
Note: If the amount that will not be covered by federal resources is greater than $2,500, students will need to determine if it is feasible for them to pay the difference in cost from the DCS subsidy (if applicable) and/or their earned income. If the difference in cost is something the student has the means to pay for (ex: by setting up a payment plan with the school), they should submit a Focus Forward request.
If students do not have income sources to pay for the difference in cost, public institutions such as the Maricopa Community Colleges may offer a similar program at a lower cost that may be eligible to be covered by the Arizona Tuition Waiver.
Payment:
Paid by check payable to the institution or paid online to the institution.
