Make a recurring gift and support children and youth in foster care for years to come. You win. Kids win.

WHY YOUR GIFT MATTERS

Isaac was one in a family of six siblings who came into foster care. Shortly after Isaac and his siblings went to live with his grandparents, his grandfather passed away unexpectedly. Over time, Arizona Friends of Foster Children Foundation funded a variety of activities for Isaac, including football registration.

A few. years ago, Isaac’s football team won their city championship and were invited to the state championship. After reviewing his application for assistance to attend the state championship game, AFFCF’s review committee determined that because Isaac helped his team reach the championship he should be able to participate in this very special game.

And they won the state championship. Which meant the team was invited to participate in the national championship game – in Florida. Again, after reviewing the funding request to help pay for the expenses, our review committee agreed that being in foster care should not prevent Isaac from participating in this once-in-a-lifetime game.

Isaac and his team won it all.

Without funding from AFFCF, Isaac would not have been able to take part in these championship games. Being in foster care should not prevent a child from participating every day kid activities.

Isaac may never be a professional football player. But football could get him into a post-secondary education. Football also exposes him to a myriad of career opportunities – coaching, sports training and medicine, etc. Not to mention the basics of learning to work with others and being a team player.

Donations to AFFCF made Isaac’s dream come true, as well as the dreams of thousands of other children and youth in foster care. It matters. Sustaining donations ensure that kids like Isaac can be just like every other kid now and in the future.

GIVING FAQs

How does AFFCF raise the money to pay for awards?

AFFCF is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization. We receive no funding from federal or state government. Our funding depends entirely on generous individual, foundation and corporation donors.

Who receives my donation?

Your donation to AFFCF goes to provide an athletic, educational or social activity or an item to a child in foster care in Arizona that would not be paid for in any other way. AFFCF funds awards for such items and activities as apartment set ups for youth aging out of foster care, summer camp, class photos, gymnastics, karate, music or swimming lessons, prom expenses, school field trips, post-secondary scholarships and more.

Does my donation qualify for a tax credit?

Yes! AFFCF is a qualifying Foster Care Charitable Organization. Arizona law allows you to claim a tax credit of up to $1,000 for joint filers and up to $500 for individual filers for voluntary contributions you make during any taxable year. For more information visit the Arizona Department of Revenue’s website at www.azdor.gov and/or consult your tax professional.

Are there any other ways I can give to AFFCF?

You bet! There are many ways you can contribute. In fact, it can be easy as linking your Fry’s Community Rewards card or your AmazonSmile account to AFFCF, volunteering your time, holding your own fundraiser, etc. Contact our outreach coordinator, Kim Searles, at ksearles@affcf.org to learn more.

How many children does AFFCF serve?

In 2021, Arizona awarded 9,607 grants to more than 4,800 children throughout the state. The total of these awards was more than $1.6 million.

What is the AFFCF funding process?

You simply need to complete our application. Along with the application, we require documentation from the vendor/provider (a flyer, a screenshot of a website, an email from the vendor/provider, etc.) that shows the cost of the activity/service. Our application also requires the contact information for the child’s DCS/tribal caseworker as we do verify that the child is a ward of the state of Arizona. For tutoring assistance requests, we do ask for additional documentation. Please see our award guidelines for more details.

If your request falls within our guidelines, it will be approved once we have received documentation and a response from the caseworker. PLEASE NOTE THAT AFFCF CANNOT CONSIDER FUNDING ANYTHING THAT HAS ALREADY BEEN PAID FOR PRIOR TO RECEIVING APPROVAL FOR THAT SPECIFIC REQUEST.
