Many times, when young people come into foster care, they don’t have properly fitting clothes. Or if they do fit, their clothes are worn with holes and frayed edges.  If they play sports, they may not have a uniform or athletic clothing.

That was the case for Rick He only had to pairs of pants for his school uniform. So, when one of the pairs got a hole, he basically wore the same pair of pants for the four days of school he had every week.

Because he was on the wrestling team, he needed the proper equipment and uniforms so that he could do his best on the mat. The safety gear kept him from getting injuries during practices and matches.

Here’s what Rick had to say:

“Thank you so much for buying me my sports equipment and school uniforms. Thanks to you, I have not been hurt nearly as much as I could have during my wrestling tournaments…thank you very much for helping me. It has made wrestling and school so much easier, especially since I’ve been going through such a hard time.”

Rick, 12
