Young Ambassador Program

Benefits of Being a Young Ambassador
- A great way to help the AFFCF by educating the public about foster care and the Foundation
- Develop leadership skills and improve self confidence
- Develop your public speaking and/or presentation skills
- Receive a letter of recommendation from the AFFCF that can be used for prospective employers
- Demonstrate your community/civic involvement when applying for a job, scholarship or grant, etc.
- Receive up to a $50 travel stipend for each function you attend
- Receive a certificate of appreciation that acknowledges your achievement and support of the AFFCF
What Can Ambassadors Do?
- Serve as the public face of the AFFCF by visiting sponsors, foundations and donors with staff, board members or other volunteers
- Represent the AFFCF at seminars, conferences, etc.
- Serve as a speaker at AFFCF events and activities
- Making presentations to small groups, women’s/men’s groups, Rotary, or other service clubs, etc.
- Organize networking groups or clubs on collegiate campuses to offer networking and resource sharing opportunities for other foster youth
Ambassadors Receive Training On:
- AFFCF mission and goals
- Basic facts and figures regarding foster care
- Public speaking, persuasive speaking skills, etc.
Qualifications:
- Must be 18 years of age and in the Young Adult Program
- Is planning to or currently attending college, university or trade school
- Must be a good role model for other foster youth
- Good verbal skills
- Willingness to share AFFCF’s mission and programs with others
- Ability to ask others to get involved
- A willingness to attend two ambassador training/networking meetings per year
- Be willing to volunteer up to 15 hours per year as an ambassador
- Have received a grant or scholarship from the AFFCF (desirable, not required)
- Has had a satisfactory academic track record
- Be able to travel to training and events
