Seven Easy Steps for Writing Your Thank You Note
Sending a thank you note back to the AFFCF will help us maintain support from our donors and encourage further contributions so that foster children can continue to receive awards and grants.
What could foster parents do to help teach kids good manners and the proper show of appreciation after a gift is received? For some tips to make giving thanks a positive and heartfelt experience click here .
Seven Steps
1. Return your thank you to the Arizona Friends of Foster Children Foundation (AFFCF) as quickly as possible. The letter will be forwarded directly to a donor.
2. Only use the child’s first name (no personally identifiable information) in the letter and feel free to share some personal information like age, favorite activity, interests, dreams or aspirations of the child.
3. Notes may be sent on informal stationery or inexpensive cards purchased from a discount store. Home made artwork works well also. For your convenience a blank piece of stationary has been included for your use.
4. Always make specific reference to the gift that is the subject of the note, such as "Thank you so much for the bike. How did you know that was my favorite color?”
5. Tell how the gift will be used, how it made the child feel, or if anything memorable happened as the result of the gift. (Won a trophy, had my first ever recital, learned a new skill, improved my grades, attended summer camp and learned to ride a horse, improved my self confidence, feel better about…)
6. Say “Thank you”
7. Mail your thank you note to: AFFCF, 7200 W. Bell Rd, S-H102, Glendale, AZ 85308-8537 and include the child’s full name on a separate piece of paper.
