Each day we hear the stories about Arizona’s children entering the foster care system. As the number of abuse and neglect cases continues to increase and flow into our overburdened child protection system, the risk of children lingering in our system escalates to frightening proportions. However, there is a statewide volunteer program that CAN make a difference in the lives of these children.

The mission of the Foster Care Review Board is based upon a belief that each child has a right to, and is deserving of, a permanent home that provides nurturing, love, and protection. Towards this end, the mission of the Foster Care Review Board is accomplished in an atmosphere of trust, with dignity and respect maintained through participative involvement of all those having interest in the welfare of the child. Though the plan for each child may be tempered by a reality of what may be attainable from available resources, the best interest of the child always remains of paramount importance to the review board. 

Statewide, there are nearly 10,000 children in foster care. Volunteers are needed to serve on new boards being established to handle the increasing number of cases and to fill vacancies that are currently available on existing boards.
