Youth Shower Event 

About the Event

Each year AFFCF conducts several Youth Shower Events. Many of the youth who attend are preparing to leave CPS care and are planning to move out on their own, or with friends. More times than not, these youth move out with as little as they had when they entered the system. Whatever the circumstances, these youth need the support to successfully begin life on their own. The AFFCF provides assistance to these young adults. 

As an expansion to AFFCF’s Apartment Set-Up Program, the Youth Shower Committee holds several small shower events for 5 to 10 teens.  These youth are moving out and moving on to pursue their own dreams and aspirations. Each attendee receives new apartment set-up items up to $500 in value.  

AFFCF volunteers provide gifts and snacks for the young adults. AFFCF presents each of the young adults with the necessities to start off on the right foot. Gifts typically include pots and pans, dish sets, flatware and bedding. The laughs, smiles and tearful thanks say it all.
