With over 17,000 children under the care of the state in Arizona, foster care plays an important role in ensuring that these vulnerable children have the care and protection that they need. Children’s advocates have invested a lot of time and care in ensuring that every child in foster care has certain rights. The Arizona Foster Care Bill of Rights guarantees certain protections to children, including:

  • Knowing why they are in foster care, what will happen to them as a result of being in foster care, and what will happen to any siblings
  • Being able to attend worship services, school activities, and other activities, as appropriate
  • Having appropriate personal space for privacy needs, and to keep his or her belongings
  • Having special communication needs accommodated
  • Getting healthy foods in portions that are age-appropriate
  • Receiving the reasonable amount of protection from any harm and being treated with respect

These are just a few of the many rights that Arizona children have when they are in foster care. Arizona Friends of Foster Care Foundation supports the rights of foster children and families. Your donation funds programs that provide scholarships, career building and other enrichment opportunities to children and teens in the foster care system.
